Better Business Bureau warns residents of ‘romance scams’

With Valentine's Day just a few days away, the folks from the Better Business Bureau issued a warning, beware of 'romance scams'
Romance scams are commonly referred to as catfishing' and have increasingly become more common with the ease of technology.
The Vice President of Communications and Marketing over at the bureau explains that folks are swindled when they fall for fake profiles that are created on dating sites or apps.
We're told in the U.S., 91 romance scams were reported to the Better Business Bureau in the past year alone. One of those victims is a resident of Maryland's Eastern Shore. We're told he lost $10,000 through this scam .
"This victim connected with someone through match.com . Unfortunately the scammer created a phony profile, complete with pictures and details. They quickly took that conversation off match.com and ultimately asking for money to be wired," says Thomas
Folks at the better business bureau say law enforcement can get involved to investigate these romance scams, but it's tough getting that money back to the victim once it has been sent.
