Beau Biden Foundation develops tool to help authorities search for missing children

It's been almost two years since the death of Beau Biden, but his legacy of protecting children continues to live on.
The Beau Biden Foundation for Protection of Children was created shortly after his death in honor of his life work. Foundation members tell us they are honoring his desire to make sure children are protected from any threats of abuse by developing a tool that could possibly assist law enforcement search for a missing child.
The foundation calls it a Child ID Kit.
"It is a profile that has the name, their address, the parent's name, telephone numbers," says Stacey-Key Davis, the Site Coordinator for the Beau Biden Foundation.
Saturday morning, Key-Davis, created Child ID Kits for students in the Smyrna School District. She says it's an effort to help the alarming number of children reported missing nationwide. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation that number reached nearly 466,000 last year.
"When a child is missing the first 24 hours is the most crucial time. And at that time they can give authorities a child ID kit , and they can find their child much quicker," says Key-Davis.
Key-Davis also adds that the kit has a picture of the child and their fingerprints. She says it's important for parents to have all this information on file in case of a kidnapping.
Smyrna resident Christi Loveland took her 11 year old daughter to get a kit made. She tells 47 ABC she had one made a few years ago, but believes it's important to keep them updated.
"There is a lot of children missing that come out missing every year. They should get it updated every year. And this would help, God forbid if something did happen, at least I have this."
Beau Biden Foundation members tell us their goal is to create 15,000 kits for children across the state of Delaware.
