Bayhealth’s health campus project faces next construction phase

The first pieces of structural steel are in place on Bayhealth's health campus project in Milford.

The placement of the first steel beam marks the next stage of construction for the 440,000-square-foot hospital and outpatient center.

Over the next few months the six-story frame of the project will take place.

The $300 million hospital will expand emergency services, cardiovascular services, as well as additional operating rooms.

Beyond the hospital, it will have an outpatient center as well.

We are told the location was key for this hospital due to its proximity to Route 1.

One of the health campus project leaders, Michael Metzing, says the groundbreaking took place back in May but they are excited to see its progress.

Metzing states, "To see where we are in this process is pretty awesome and look forward to completing the project on time and budget and continue to meet the needs of our community today and well into the future."

Construction will finish October 2018 and they will officially occupy the area in the first quarter of 2019.
