Wicomico Bureau of Investigations mutually dissolved

The Wicomico Bureau of Investigations is no more.

Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis says the partnership between the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police has been mutually dissolved.

Sheriff Lewis says the two agencies will continue to assist one another on crimes in the area when needed, but will no longer work under the umbrella of the WBI.

Manpower and personnel issues were cited as some reasons for the dissolution.

The WBI was formed in 2001 as a way for local and state authorities to jointly investigate major crimes.
