UPDATE: Trial for murder suspect to be postponed in seperate case

A Salisbury man facing a number of charges including false imprisonment and assault is expected to have his Monday trial postponed, officials confirm.

22-year-old Shaquille Gaskins was scheduled to be tried at 9 a.m. Monday on charges of first degree assault, second degree assault, false imprisonment, dangerous weapon: wear and carry with intent to injure, and reckless endangerment.

According to online court records, Gaskins' charges stem from a March 2016 incident.

Wicomico County State's Attorney Ella Disharoon tells 47ABC the trial is expected to be postponed by the defense.

Gaskins is facing murder charges in a separate case for the April 2016 shooting death of 24-year-old Irvonte Jones. A trial date for this incident has not been listed through online court records.
