UPDATE: Trial date set for Princess Anne hammer attack suspect

A trial date has been set for a man accused in a deadly Princess Anne hammer attack.

Online court records show that 28-year-old Sharef Hayward's trial date has been set for May 22 in Somerset County Circuit Court.

Hayward was recently indicted on 14 criminal counts including first and second degree murder and child abuse among other charges.

The indictment came after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend Airealle Sells and her children with a knife and a hammer.

The 25 year-old mother died about a week later.

Hayward is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
