Two SUVs and schoolbus involved in Felton crash

UPDATE 11:45 AM: Delaware State Police now report that two SUVs and an unoccupied school bus were involved in Friday morning's crash.

At approximately 8:19 AM, police say a 71-year-old driver of a Toyota RAV4 failed to yield during a left hand turn from South DuPont Highway, U.S. Route 113, onto Killens Pond Road.

The RAV4 traveled into the path of a Chevrolet Suburban heading north on Route 113, which swerved in an attempt to miss hitting the RAV4, police said.

The Suburban reportedly hit the RAV4 and then both SUVs struck a nearby Bluebird school bus that was stopped at the traffic signal at Killens Pond Road and Route 113.

Officials say the driver of the RAV4 was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital and admitted in serious condition. An 11-year-old child was also in the vehicle and was transported to KGH with minor injuries.

The RAV4 driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

The driver and passenger of the Suburban reported no injuries.

The school bus operator was additionally uninjured, officials report.

Police say traffic in the area of the crash was impacted for around two hours while debris was cleared and an investigation was carried out.

ORIGINAL STORY: In Kent County authorities have confirmed with 47 ABC that they are on scene to a crash in Felton.

According to the Felton Community Fire Company, they were called to South Dupont Highway near Reeves Crossing Road for a crash just after 8:30 AM on Friday.

There are reports, that it involved a bus and another vehicle with possible of entrapment. However, that has not been confirmed by officials.
