Snow Emergency Plan issued for Worcester County roads

Maryland State Police says they are calling a Snow Emergency Plan into effect for Worcester County starting 2 AM Saturday.

Police say implementing the plan assists the State Highway Administration with their efforts to clear snow from area roadways.

The plan means two things for drivers in Worcester County: parking is prohibited on all snow emergency routes in the county and all vehicles driving during the snow emergency must have snow tires, all-weather tires or be equipped with snow chains.

Officials say most modern vehicles already have all-weather tires equipped.

Additionally, any vehicles left on snow emergency route shoulders will be towed at the owner's expense, police said.

Maryland State Police will inform 47ABC when the Snow Emergency Plan is lifted.

Motorists with questions can call Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack at 410-641-3101.
