Slow second half dooms Tech in loss to A.I. DuPont

The Sussex Tech Ravens fell to 5-7 on the year, falling 74-54 to A.I. DuPont High School of Wilmington.

The Ravens came in with an upset on their mind, and had the Tigers (10-3) right where they wanted them, leading 18-15 after one quarter. The second quarter was much of the same, with Tech maintaining a steady lead, until Julius Inge's heave from just inside of half court went, knotting the teams at 32 at the half.

The opening minutes of the second half would decide things for Tech, as A.I. went on a 7-0 run to open up the third quarter. Tech would answer with a 5-0 run of their own, only to give up a 5-0 run, to find themselves in a hole early. DuPont kept the pressure up in the third, and had a 16 point lead after 3. They would seal things up in the fourth, running away with their second 20-point win of the year.

Inge led the Tigers with a game-high 19 points, while backcourt-mate Jon Bailey finished with 16. For Sussex Tech, freshman Ricky Kane and junior Khalil Bolden finished tied with a team-high 10 points.
