SHA gives tips to motorists driving in icy road conditions

In Maryland, a spokesperson for the State Highway Administration says they are pre-treating roads and bridges.
SHA tells us crews are already loaded with salt, but because of the potentially hazardous road conditions tomorrow [Saturday], they want to issue similar warnings as those in Delaware.
Before taking to the road this weekend, check conditions and make smart travel decisions.
Although if you do have to drive, SHA's Bob Rager has some tips to stay safe.
"Stand back and take a look at your car. Most of us are driving a 3,000 to 4,000 lb passenger car and whatever we're driving on, condition wise, all we ever have is a couple inches of square contact with each tire on that road, so anything that comes between the tires in the road is going to compromise friction and make it much more difficult to drive," explains Rager.
Although, he does advise to wait to drive until the storm passes if at all possible.
