Queen Anne’s fatal crash under investigation

Authorities in Queen Anne's County are investigating a deadly crash on Tuesday after two cars ran into a tree.
According to the Sheriff's Office around 4:20 PM an SUV was driving north on Perry's Corner Road. As the vehicle went around a slight curve near the Talisman Farm, it reportedly traveled into the south lane and was hit head-on by a box truck. Officials say both vehicles then left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the SUV, a woman from Grasonville, was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the box truck and their passenger were reportedly not injured.
Officials say notification was made to the woman's family later in the evening. However, due to her injuries, the Medical Examiner is requesting her identity be withheld until a positive ID has been made.
Perry's Corner Road was closed in the area of the crash for several hours. The investigation is ongoing by the Sheriff's Office assisted by the Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit.
