Person hospitalized after car goes into elementary school in Felton

Police say that they are investigating a single car crash into an elementary school that happened on Wednesday evening in Felton.

According to Delaware State Police, around 6:24 pm, a 56-year-old Dover man was driving a Ford Explorer eastbound on Killens Pond Road. For undetermined reasons, the Explorer traveled off the north side of the road, then in a northeasterly direction across the grass, and into the front office area of Lake Forest Central Elementary School on Killens Pond Road, where it came to a stop.

The 56-year-old man who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to BayHealth Kent General Hospital where he is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say no one was in the school at the time, and that that the crash is under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
