Man arrested for Delmar motel beating

UPDATE: The original version of this story stated that Lucas was charged with assault and was being held on bail. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office now says Lucas only faces burglary charges and was released.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office arrested a man in Delmar last week when he allegedly forced his way into a Delmar motel room and attacked a woman inside.

A deputy arrested Kevin Lamont Lucas, 49, of Delmar, Del. shortly after 6:30 PM last Wednesday after police were notified Lucas reportedly arrived at the motel demanding to know the whereabouts of the victim.

When Lucas found her room, the accuser says he banged on her door before forcing it open and encountering her in the bathroom.

Police say Lucas choked the woman and slammed her head into the tile wall before leaving her.

Lucas is charged with two burglary charges.
