Locals plan to march in response to the Women’s March

Tomorrow morning, thousands of women and others will march in the nation's capitol to stand up for women's rights, civil rights and human rights for the Women's March on Washington.
Although, the nation's capitol isn't the only place where people are gathering, it's happening all over the country and the world with over 673 marches happening around the globe.
One of them is happening right here in Worcester County. Over two hundred local people have already made it clear, they plan to make their way to Ocean City tomorrow in response to the Women's March in Washington.
Locals are taking to the streets of Ocean City Saturday, in an effort to let their concerns be noticed.
It all started at a book club a few weeks back.
"We were talking about the March in Washington and saying how most of us couldn't go or are a little old to be taking a three hour bus ride to Washington, three hour bus trip back leaving at 6 a.m. and marching in Washington," explains Mary Ellen Gunther.
That's when 84-year-old Mary Ellen Gunther came up with the idea to march along the Ocean City boardwalk.
She says it's a way to support those walking in Washington while also fighting for women's rights
"It's a march in support of women's issues, that's what it is, the one in Washington is and our support one is. There are a lot of issues we want to make sure are not just glossed over education the climate."
Mary Ellen tells 47 ABC its by no means a protest rather an affirmation of women's rights and the rights of all people.
Although, what she thought would be maybe 50 people walking has turned into an over 200 planning on making their way to Ocean City Saturday morning.
Something that doesn't surprise Joan Roache, a member of the Democratic Women's Club of Worcester County, like Mary Ellen.
"Its just a group of people who care about democracy, society, people, and how people fare and that we have a fare, equitable system for everybody in the country," explains Roache.
While these local women will be walking many miles away from their sisters in DC on Saturday, they are proud to know they'll be standing strong together on issues that affect not just women, but all people all over the world.
The march is Saturday morning beginning at 11 a.m. on the Boardwalk at the inlet marching to the plaza at Division Street.
According to their website, there is over 500 people now set to march.
