Lewes Police: Beware of fraudulent parking ticket emails

The City of Lewes Police Department is warning citizens about an email scam where an unknown party tries to collect fraudulent parking ticket fines online.

Police say they were alerted to this scam on Thursday.

Though the source of the emails has not yet been determined, police are warning both residents and visitors to Lewes to not open any links from suspicious emails.

Police stress the importance of not providing financial information or any payments to this fraudulent source. The City of Lewes does not collect parking ticket fines by email, police said.

Anyone who has received an email demanding a parking fine and claiming to be from the City of Lewes is encouraged to contact Lewes Police at 302-645-6264.
