Food safety storage tips amid winter weather

With the winter weather conditions, Worcester county officials have released tips when it comes to safe food storage.
Officials say perishable foods without a proper means of refrigeration or freezing should be thrown away. That applies to foods with a temperature above forty-one degrees fahrenheit.
This includes things like meats, milk, yogurt and eggs. People are recommended to use a thermometer to check their freezer temperature, and wash their hands after contact with meats and poultry. They are also recommended to rely on appearance or odor. Officials say when in doubt, throw it out.
