Different political views on Delmarva on the U.S. Secretary of Education nominee

Donald's Trump nomination for the next U.S. Secretary of Education is Betsy DeVos.
But not everyone is in favor.
Kimberly Williams, Education committee Vice-Chair, of the Delaware House Democratic Caucus tells 47 ABC teachers across America work long hours to prepare their students to be successful and the secretary of education should be an advocate for them on a national level.
Williams states, "We thought it would be good to send a letter to Senator Coons and Senator Carper with our concerns. So our caucus decided to send a letter to them sharing our thoughts with them."
They outlined four points in the letter on why DeVos is not the appropriate candidate. One, they say she lacks knowledge of basic education policy.
Also they claim she does not understand the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which is a federal law as she suggested that state could choose to enforce it or not.
Additional points of concern were DeVos' view of guns in schools, her position on civil rights, as well as her advocacy of private school vouchers.
But if not Betsy DeVos, then who?
Williams tells us the caucus is hoping for someone who will push for the improvements necessary to strengthen the public education system, not weaken it.
Williams says, "I don't want to sit here and say that she doesn't care about kids, that's not what our message is. We all care about kids but it's about who's the right person to lead the department. It's who is the right person to lead that department and I believe, we believe she is not that person."
On the opposing end, we spoke to Representative Andy Harris about his thoughts on the nomination of Betsy DeVos.
Representative Harris says DeVos is a great candidate for this position.
He tells 47 ABC about she spent years improving education in the states she worked in, as well as having a broad background to improve public education through charter systems and voucher programs.
Rep. Harris says he isn't surprised teachers union are opposed of her because she has supported competition in public school systems.
But the first thing she will fund is the The Opportunity Scholarship Program, which provides D.C. families private school scholarships.
Rep. Harris says, "I think Betsy DeVos is going to bring competition to the school system and I think through that competition we're going to have improvement and we're going to bring the American school system in all areas of the country up to global standards."
