Del. inauguration prepping reaches final hours

On the national level, we are approaching a major transition of power as President-elect Donald Trump will be officially sworn into office Friday.
Locally in Delaware, it's crunch-time for officials who are putting together the finishing touches Governor-elect John Carney is scheduled to be sworn-in on Tuesday.
Roughly 700 chairs, placed outside of Legislative Hall for the guests attending the ceremony, were donated by the University of Delaware. A large wooden risen has been built for members of the press.
Jackie Paradee Mette, co-chair of the inauguration committee, tells 47ABC at least 50 people are involved in the preparation process. Planning started in November shortly after Governor-elect Carney won the election, with frequent meetings in December and January.
"This is the type of event that requires a lot of collaboration and coordination among several state agencies from communications to the office of management and budget. Of course the governor's office. The members of the general assembly, their staff," explains Paradee Mette.
She tells 47ABC, the overall process of planning has been seamless.
Another integral part of the planning process includes law enforcement.
Paradee Mette explains Dover police and Delaware State Police, among other agencies, will have a strong presence helping with security and parking around Legislative Hall. This year, the ceremony will be held on the East side of the building.
"There's some symbolism with that, of course. You know, the rising of the sun…the rising of a new administration," says Paradee Mette. "But it's the official front of the building, so we're excited to be able to have this year's ceremony in front of such a spectacular backdrop."
With an expected crowd upwards of 1,200 guests, officials recommend motorists to be extra patient on the road and allow themselves extra time.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday. Inauguration day will begin with an interfaith prayer service at 9 a.m. in Dover.
