Choptank Electric: Malfunctioning equipment causes Ocean Pines outages

Crews are reportedly replacing the VFI cabinet, which could affect the power of a small number of customers.

ORIGINAL POST: Choptank Electric Cooperative is reporting that 1,676 members are without electricity in the Ocean Pines area.
Officials say the outage is related to a malfunctioning VFI cabinet. They report that crews are trying to backfeed members in order to replace the malfunctioning cabinet.
Once replaced, the power can be restored.
Choptank Electric says to report an outage, customers should use their SmartHub app or call 1-800-410-4790.
