Carney signs first executive order as Del. governor

Newly sworn-in Delaware Governor John Carney signed his first executive order Wednesday, just 26 hours after taking his oath office.

The order will create a working group dedicated to economic development in the First State.

The 74th Delaware governor described it as a partnership between public and private sectors to tackle economic challenges, plus spur more growth.

Similar to what he said in his inaugural address Tuesday Carney says the partnership will take collaboration above anything else.

"If it's going to work and you're going to have an effective partnership, the private sector has to be all in as well. If it's going to work," says Governor Carney. "You're going to change laws to make it possible, the members of the general assembly have to be all in as well."

The working group will begin its work in February and report back to Governor Carney by April 7, 2017.
