Car on wrong side of highway leads to fatal collision in Denton

Denton Police say a Monday morning head-on collision involving three vehicles left one woman dead and two others injured.
The accident happened shortly before 6:48 AM on eastbound Shore Highway just east of Deep Shore Road, police said.
A 2015 Jeep Wrangler was reportedly driving west in an eastbound lane, striking a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta head-on. The Volkswagen, which had been traveling in the leftmost eastbound lane, was pushed by the collision into the path of a 2011 Mazda 2 in the right line.
The Mazda collided with the Volkswagen and both vehicles left the roadway and stopped in a ditch, police said.
The Jeep reportedly came to a stop at the median with part of the vehicle still in the leftmost eastbound lane.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Melinda Kay Tisher, 39, of Greensboro, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS responders, officials said.
The Jeep's driver, 60-year-old Kevin Richard Hayes of Severna Park, was transported to Nanticoke Hospital. Police say it is unclear at this time why he was driving on the wrong side of the highway, though they do not believe alcohol was a factor.
31-year-old Michael Andrew Sousa of Easton, the driver of the Mazda, was transported to Easton Hospital, authorities said.
Their conditions have not been released.
Police say eastbound Shore Highway was closed for around five hours between Legion Road and Harmony Road.
In addition to Denton Police, responders included Maryland State Police, the Caroline County Sheriff's Office, Ridgely Police and the Maryland State Highway Administration.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed yet.
