Capital School District unveils food truck, provides lunch to kids

The Capital School District unveiled their new food truck Monday, providing warm lunches to school children in Dover who were off from classes today.
The truck, funded by reimbursements from a federal nutrition program, serves to keep students fed even when they aren't in school. In Monday's case, it was a federal holiday; however, Capital School District's nutritional services supervisor James Trower says the truck will primarily be utilized during the Summer months.
"Children don't stop being hungry after they leave school for the Summer," says Trower. "We want to extend to them meals, whether it's lunch or breakfast, to help them throughout the summer months to have them continue to have nutritional meals."
On Monday the truck made stops at two housing developments during the early afternoon. School officials say they prepared enough lunches for around 200 kids.
Summer locations for the food truck will be posted online.
