Washington battles but comes up short to Kings Christian

The Washington boys basketball team battled back from an early double digit deficit but came up just short to Kings Christian 70-60 in the first round of the Governor's Challenge. The Jaguars will now face Mardela on the losers side of their bracket.

Kings Christian would take an early lead thanks to strong point guard play from Deangelo Tull. He would be able to push the ball in transition for a few easy buckets, connect on mid range jumpers and set up his post players for easy scores once the defense was drawn to him. Washington though would begin to battle back, led by their strong post player Tyler Poulson. The big man would collect rebounds and get put backs underneath to get the scoring started. Then with time running down in the third quarter, Rashaun Fitzgerald would drill a three ball from the left wing to get his team within five. Washington continued to push in the fourth as Dorian Stevens was able to get to the cup for an and one. But Kings Christian continued to push as they got 21 points from Chris Christian to help close out the game.
