UPDATE: Victims still in critical condition after Princess Anne attempted murder

Sharef Dontre Hayward, 26, Baltimore

A woman and her two children are reportedly still in critical condition after being attacked on Tuesday in Princess Anne.

Court documents show that on Tuesday morning, police were called for a welfare check on a woman and her two children, and when they responded to the home on Pine Knoll Drive, they found all of them unconscious.

The woman was suffering from stab and trauma wounds and the children were both suffering from head wounds.

The accused is 26-year-old Sharef Hayward of Baltimore, who authorities believe  attacked the victims with a knife and a hammer.

The woman is reportedly being treated at Shock Trauma, and the children are at Johns Hopkins.

Officials say Hayward told someone that he had attacked the family. 47ABC is choosing not to identify the victims at this time.

Hayward was later arrested after a brief foot chase, and police say he was found with what appeared to be blood stains on his clothing. He is currently being held without bond on 16 charges which include attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and violating a protective order, which court documents show that the victim received a day before the attack.
