UPDATE: Police identify driver in fatal Route 50 crash

Police have identified the driver killed in a crash early Friday evening.

Troopers from the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to a personal injury collision on westbound Route 50 and Powellville Road.

Upon arrival, they say the driver of a Red Ford truck had died. That driver has been identified as 71-year-old Cecil Wright Bundick. His truck was reportedly overturned in a drainage area parallel to westbound Route 50.

According to a preliminary investigation, Bundick was traveling southbound on Powellville Road in the area of westbound Route 50. For unknown reasons. Bundick's truck entered the travel portion of lane 2 westbound Route 50 colliding with the front of a tractor and trailer.

A representative from the Maryland State Medical Examiner office responded to the scene at which time it was determined Bundick would be transported to the Office of The Chief Medical Examiner.

Police say it is unknown if alcohol is a factor at this time.
