UPDATE: MSP investigating fatal shooting in Pocomoke City

Maryland State Police say they are investigating a fatal shooting that happened in Pocomoke City.

According to the report, around 10PM on Thursday, police got a 9-1-1 call from a driver in the area of Market Street and 4th Street in Pocomoke City. The caller told police that they saw a man struggling across the road, and this man then fell in the middle of the street. Officers from the Pocomoke City Police Department were immediately dispatched along with emergency medical service personnel. EMS reported that the victim appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as James Allen, Jr., 26, of Pitts Circle in Pocomoke City, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police say that they think the incident happened in the area of Oxford Street and 4th Street, which is apparently about an eighth of a mile from where the caller claimed to have seen Allen struggling. Investigators note that they have been interviewing witnesses and residents in the area throughout Thursday night, and crime scene evidence has been taken to the State Police Forensic Sciences Division crime laboratory for analysis
