UPDATE: Arrest made following JMB High School assault incident

On Tuesday, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says they responded to the main office of James M. Bennett High School for a report of a disturbance.
According to the report, around 7:30 AM, a deputy went to the school and found out that one of the school's assistant principals was dealing with a student named Daquan Parks, 16, who was reported to have started arguing with the assistant principal, and that escalated to a physical confrontation.
It was alleged that Parks pushed the assistant principal back over the counter in the main office and started to choke her, using both of his hands around her neck. Officials say that the school principal tried to stop the assault, but Parks began to swing at the principal too, making contact with some of the punches. One punch was reported to have hit the principal in the head, knocking him to the ground.
Parks, who was also knocked to the ground at one point, got back up and allegedly went after the assistant principal again. Parks pinned the assistant principal against the wall and held her there until help arrived that restrained him.
Both the assistant principal and principal suffered injury as a result of the assault.
The deputy placed Parks under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance where he was charged with assault first degree, assault second degree, and disorderly conduct, the Commissioner detained Parks in the Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 bond. The sheriff's office also notes the fact that Parks was charged as an adult in this case.
