Two charged in Ocean Pines unlocked car thefts

Ocean Pines Police have now charged Bennett Thomas McNeil III and Jenna Leigh Vermillion, both of Ocean City, for their roles in a string of thefts from unlocked cars in Ocean Pines.

Ocean City Police arrested McNeil, Vermillion and two others last Tuesday in an undercover sting to buy an illegal firearm.

A police investigation found that the two had entered 13 unlocked cars between Dec. 7th and Dec. 12th. Several items that McNeil and Vermillion stole have been recovered by police.

McNeil, 26, and Vermillion, 24, are charged with multiple counts of theft including two counts of theft from $1,000 to $10,000 and a count of conspiracy to commit a theft scheme between $1,000 and $10,000.

Both McNeil and Vermillion are being held in the Worcester County Jail.
