Tips to avoid a New Year’s hangover

Before you bring out the bubbly to celebrate the new year, there is a few things folks can do to prevent feeling the after effects of their festivities.
Doctor Victor Gong from 75th street Medical in Ocean City tells 47 ABC the chances of experiencing a hangover increases with five or more drinks, especially if they are consume it in a short amount of time.
Dr. Gong recommends drinking slower – for example sticking to one drink per hour, as well as diluting your drink.
Doctor Gong says one reason people get hangovers are because of congeners in alcohol, which are by-products of the distillation process.
"Certain alcohols have more congeners than other for example champagne and wine. They have more conjures than vodka and gin, so you have less hangovers with gin and vodka," says Dr. Gong.
Another tip from is to alternate between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to avoid a hangover.
