The Salted Rim’s Polar Express sees impressive turnout

One local attraction has been receiving a lot of attention over the years, and the only way to have access it is with a special golden ticket.
Karen Fitz, the owner of The Salted Rim in Ocean View created a unique movie and dine-in experience based on the movie The Polar Express. Using two stationary train cars that are parked outside this restaurant, Fitz has created a scene straight out of the movie.
"The families come dressed in their pajamas, they check in with Ms. Claus over in the pub, then we'll bring everybody down this boardwalk into the train building," says Fitz.
Once folks are in the train cars, Santa's elves play The Polar Express movie and there is also a surprise visit from Santa
Fitz tells us over the years this experience has grown in popularity.
"The last three weekends have been sold out every show and we do ten shows on Sunday, 10 on Friday, and 4 on Friday night," says Fitz.
We caught up with a repeat customer, who tells us 47 ABC – she already knows what she's going to ask for from Santa when he walks through the car.
"I really like Rudolph the red nose reindeer so I'm going to get a toy a Rudolph with a red nose," says
Alleigh Bowles.
However children aren't the only ones getting their golden ticket punched to take part in this attraction, Fitz tells us there have been many groups of adults recently boarding the train too.
"They tell their friends and their friends start coming," says Fitz.
She adds that this experience is about more than creating memories during the holidays, it's also about giving to those in need. Fitz says they will continue to accept toy donations from their passengers in the coming days.
"I will take them to a church or call toys for tots and they'll pick it up for us," says Fitz.
