SU approved to purchase properties along Rt. 13

Tuesday morning,  the Salisbury University Foundation announced they've been approved to purchase about 8.5 acres of properties along Rt. 13.The properties include the Court Plaza Shopping center which is home to several businesses, as  well as the the former Temple Hills Motel, and a property on the 300 block of Kay avenue.

SU Foundation officials say the Court Plaza will remain in operation and they will be encouraging other businesses to locate there. However officials tell 47 ABC the Temple Hills Motel building will be demolished.

Bob Moore, the Chairman for the SU Foundation, says ones of the reasons for acquiring these properties is because of their growing student body.

"We are just excited about having this large block of land within close proximity of our campus.  if it part of our migration south, who knows some day  maybe this will be part of our south campus," says Moore.

As of Tuesday, no official decisions have been made of what the Motel location will be used for. However some possible uses they are considering range from parking , laboratory spaces, or student housing.
