Students at St. Francis De Sales show off STEM science projects

Students at St. Francis De Sales have been hard at work for the past 3 months preparing their own individual research science projects and Friday was the day they got to show them off at their STEM fair.

Students began working on these projects on the first day of school. Assistant principal and science teacher Debbie Traum says it all starts with a scientific idea and what interests them for further research. A few projects at the fair included, whether or not caffeine made you hyper, who is more scared in general, males or females, and if chickens laid more durable eggs if you fed them calcium.

These projects are completely independent and Traum says she couldn't be more proud of all their hard work. 47 ABC spoke to Traum and she says, "This is just their best day of the year I think. The comments I heard today, which were awesome, were not just about their scientific inquiry knowledge but how they present themselves, how they answered questions. So I'm very proud of the things they're curious about."

Judges of the event included officials from Salisbury University, WorWic College as well as other science related businesses in the area.
