Salisbury School Tops Mardela

The Salisbury School boys basketball team picked up a big win over a Bayside school Tuesday afternoon when they defeated Mardela 64-51 in the opening round of the Governor's Challenge. The Dragons will now face the winner of Harford Christian and Worcester Prep, while the Warriors will play the loser of that matchup.

This game was a great match-up as it was a close one all the way through. Even though there were many runs, no team had a run big enough to clearly know what the outcome would be. The Salisbury School came out strong as they were led by their big man Martin Abraham who finished the game with 24 points and 13 rebounds. He was all over the floor and was crashing the boards hard all game long. Mardela was no slouch in this one as they put their full court pressure defense on the Dragons and were right in the game with the Dragons. Led by Tyler McCoy the Warriors stayed in the game and made it a dog fight until the end. The Dragons had a lot of offense working for them as John Cottingham looked as if he could've made a jumpshot from the parking lot as he finished the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds. The Dragons were just too much to tame for the Warriors as they had their offense rolling and pulled away at the end.
