Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport’s manager of 23 years retires

The Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport is where many folks on the Eastern Shore fly out of.

But the airport would not run smoothly if it weren't for the airport manager.

Robert Bryant has been the airport manager for 23 years, but now he is going to be leaving due to another job opportunity.

Bryant tells us he started in 1993 planning to stay for only 5 or 6 years.

But from there, Delmarva ended up being a home for him and his wife.

And over the years, Bryant tells 47 ABC that some of the most significant projects that stood out was the construction of the control tower and the extension of the runway.

But being a manager isn't just maintaining the airport.

Bryant says his job encompasses multiple things such as overlooking electrical systems, as well as being the economic development labor supervisor.

Bryant tells 47 ABC, "I hope that Wicomico County when they do pursue in replacing me, searching finding someone to replace me, hires a professional airport manager who has experience in all of these areas of airport management."

Bryant states he he has mixed emotions about leaving as he's sad to say goodbye to his fellow employees but he's excited for this next adventure in his life.
