Salisbury couple turns home into Christmas village with hundreds of miniature buildings

Many folks spend time decorating their homes for the holidays, but one couple in Salisbury goes the extra mile.

Shirley Adkins has been collecting Christmas Village sets for the past 25 years. To show them off, Shirley and her husband Larry display them all throughout their house, including their kitchen and dining room. However, those don't compare to the biggest collection in their living room.

Some houses in their collection include Coca-Cola, Starbucks, Yankee Stadium, Budweiser and a Dairy Queen.

Larry says all of the houses sit on shelves that he built himself. In addition to the collectible houses, the Adkins also put up 12 Christmas trees.

So how long does the village take to put up? Shirley tells 47 ABC she's been setting up since November 1st.

Adkins tells 47 ABC, "If  had my way it would stay up all year and were thinking about leaving the houses up all year but I'd leave them up forever, I just love them. And we're still collecting houses I don't know where were going to put next years."

Shirley says she most likely will leave her Christmas Village display up through next Christmas.
