Queen Anne’s escapes Bennett with win

The Queen Anne's boys basketball team gutted out a tough 64-63 road win at Bennett Friday night. The win improves the Lions to 4-1, while the loss drops the Clippers to 1-3.
Both teams would struggle from the field early on, but the Lions would be able to grab a slim lead behind the hot shooting of Mikey Monroe. The senior scored 10 of his 18 points in the first half alone, but Bennett would fire back. Harold Morton would score a couple shots on the block while Trey Dashield would add 5 in the second quarter to help the Clippers to a 4 point halftime lead. Bennett would stretch their lead to double digits in the 3rd before Brandon Peoples would find his stroke. He would score on back to back lay ups before hitting a three ball in the corner to give the Lions the lead. Bennett would answer with a couple scores from Montaze Jefferson to take a slim advantage into the 4th. Down 4 with under 3 minutes to play, the Lions would make one final push. Nick Dunkerly would hit a big 3-ball before Jamere Richardson would score an and 1 to give his team the lead. Bennett would have a chance at the buzzer, but their full court heave came up short, as the Lions earned the win.
Queen Anne's returns to work on Monday December 26th in the Holiday Classic at Chesapeake College, while Bennett faces off against Snow Hill on Wednesday.
