Purnell family looking to continue community outreach

Despite a recent tragedy, one local family is looking to give back to their community.
Back in September, the Purnell family lost three of their members in Pocomoke City. However their remaining members are looking to continue carrying out a tradition, called the "Be Good! Community Dinner".
A member of the Purnell family tells 47 ABC this event was started shortly after her mother and sister passed away in 2009, and now the family is looking to continue their outreach despite their most recent lost.
"It's all about outreach to the community because it's time for a change in our community with some of the recent events that have occurred," said Cheryll Mills, a friend of the Purnell family.
The dinner will take Saturday, December 17th at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Pocomoke from 11 AM to 4PM. The event is open to the community. The Purnell will also be accepting new or gently used jackets and cold weather gear for their winter clothing drive.
