Police: traffic stop turned drug arrest

Delaware State Police have arrested a woman after troopers found drugs in her possession during a traffic stop in Seaford.

Police say at around 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning, two troopers were on patrol near Sussex Highway and Bethel Concord Road in Seaford.

That's where they saw a green Chevrolet Tahoe traveling in northbound on Sussex Highway failing to remain within its travel lane.

The troopers then conducted a traffic stop and later identified the passanger in the car as 28-year-old Katie Dilworth who they later learned is wanted by the Laurel Police Department.

According to police, Dilworth was then removed from the Tahoe and transported her to the Laurel Police Department, where a female Delaware State Trooper conducted a search of Dilworth.

Dilworth apparently admitted to being in possession of a plastic bag containing assorted drugs, which she removed from the inside of her pants and turned over to the troopers.

We're told Dilworth had  55 white wax paper bags of heroin which weighed .825 grams, .52 grams of powder cocaine, 1.64 grams of crack cocaine, 6.94 grams of marijuana, 2 suboxone strips, and three Delaware food stamp cards, which did not belong to her.

She was charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of Marijuana, three counts of Unauthorized Use of Food Stamps, and 3 counts of Possession of a Counterfeit Controlled Substance.

Police say she was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Correctional Institution on $23,000.00 cash bail.

The 36-year-old driver was issued a warning and released.
