Police in Delaware warn against phone scam

(AP) – New Castle County Police are warning residents about a phone scam in which callers identify themselves as law enforcers and demand money for nonexistent warrants.
The department said Wednesday in a news release that it has gotten reports from residents who say they're received calls from people claiming to be from the county Sheriff's Office.
Police say the caller demands payment for an outstanding warrant or a fine for missing jury duty.
The department says law enforcement agencies will not telephone a citizen to ask for payment for a fine.
