Police find suspect hiding in trash can after Hurlock chase

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office reports that 33-year-old Tyrell Maurice Washington led officers on a car chase last Wednesday in Hurlock.

Washington, of Mardela Springs, did not stop when officers from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, Hurlock Police and the Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force tried to pull him over.

Police chased Washington through several streets in Hurlock before Washington swerved off-road and side-swiped a house. He abandoned the car and ran away on foot.

Police called in a bloodhound that was able to track Washington's scent half a mile to a trash can, where he was found inside hiding.

Washington was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, destruction of property, possession of marijuana over 10 grams with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of oxycodone and 26 traffic-related charges.

After performing a wanted check, police found Washington is also wanted in Wicomico County and Sussex County.

Washington is being held on $10,000 bond for his drug charges.
