Laurel woman pleads guilty to murdering daughter

A woman charged with the murder of her daughter pleaded guilty and has been sentenced in Sussex County.

According to Delaware Department of Justice officials, Detoshia Spence of Laurel, has pleaded guilty to murder by abuse second degree and two counts of child abuse in the second degree.

Spence was then sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by six months of home confinement, followed by two years of probation.

Spence was indicted last year for killing her three year old daughter in April of 2015 at the Carvel Gardens apartment complex. Her daughter's death was ruled a homicide by officials.
