Hundreds pay tribute during dignified transfer

With miniature flags flying and hands placed over their hearts, hundreds of students from Fred Fifer III Middle School honored a procession Wednesday for Staff Sergeant John Perry.
Staff Sergeant Perry was killed in action in November 12, 2016 after a Taliban suicide bomber reportedly detonated himself at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.
ABC-affiliate KXTV reports Perry's family was flying to Delaware to meet his remains at the Dover Air Force Base when they were booed by passengers on a plane in Arizona.
This was after the pilot asked everyone to remain seated so that a "special military family" could exit first.
"Needless to say, this family needs a bit of faith restored," Caesar Rodney School District communications specialist David Chambers said in a media advisory sent to members of the press.
Fifer Middle principal Brian Smith says the school was contacted by Team Red White And Blue ('Team RWB') that Perry's remains would be transferred from Dover Air Force Base to the Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday.
As blaring lights from Delaware State Police and a number of officials escorted Staff Sergeant Perry's remains through Camden-Wyoming Avenue, one student honored the tribute in his Boy Scouts uniform.
Jaxon Kopp, a sixth grader at Fifer Middle, says he chose to wear this special outfit Wednesday to his patriotism and to honor soldiers.
"I know that soldiers have died for me and my freedom and I wanted to respect that," says Kopp. "It made me feel happy that people still do respect America and respect the people who have fought for us."
Staff Sergeant Perry will be laid to rest at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
