Home intruder sexually assaults elderly Dover woman

Dover Police report that they are investigating a sexual assault of an elderly woman that happened early Thursday morning at Lake Club Apartments in Dover.

Police say a suspect entered the elderly woman's apartment through a patio door shortly after 12:10 AM and went into the woman's bedroom. There, he reportedly sexually assaulted the woman and fled the apartment the same way he entered.

The woman was taken to Kent General Hospital for treatment.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with a beard, several layers of clothing and a blue jacket.
