Greenwood man found guilty of theft and mischief charges sentenced in Sussex Co.

A Greenwood man who was found to be guilty in connection with several thefts in Sussex County was sentenced in Georgetown on Friday morning.

According to Delaware Department of Justice officials, Richard Aiken of Greenwood, was sentenced to a total of 20 years and two months. He was sentenced to 16 years for two counts of second degree burglary, two years for tampering with a witness, one year for two counts of theft, one year for second degree conspiracy, and two months for two counts of criminal mischief.

Aiken was found guilty in October of     

  • Two counts of burglary second degree
  • Four counts of theft over $1500
  • One count of theft under $1500
  • Two counts of criminal mischief under $1000
  • One count of Conspiracy Second Degree,
  • One count tampering with a witness after a week long trial

The charges came after in July of 2015, Aiken forcefully went into homes, and was found to have stolen items from several homes. The homes were listed in Dagsboro, Georgetown, and Laurel. The items were also pawned or sold for scrap metal.
