Fire leaves Marion family without a home

A fire that broke out  Monday evening, has left a Marion family without a home for the holidays.

The fire happened on the 5000 block of Wayman Road.

According to the State Fire Marshall's office, the cause of the fire has been ruled accidental and electrical in nature and it originated in the rear of the bedroom.

Tuesday afternoon, 47 ABC was on the scene and caught up with the family who was living in the home.

Anita Kay Whittington, an expecting mother, and her two children were not home when it happened, but they were understandably  shocked when they got the call.

"I got a phone call from a family member and they said that the house was on fire and I was freaking out because I thought maybe it was her house in fire and no it was mine so we rushed over," says Whittington.

Whittington tell us the Red Cross has paid for her family to stay at a hotel for two days, but the majority of her belongings have been lost because of this fire.
