Enterprise zone expansion includes the Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico County Regional Airport

The Maryland Department of Commerce has expanded the city's existing enterprise zone to encompass the Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico County Regional Airport.
The expansion will add 1,000 acres to the current 4,220-acre zone.
The airport has hosted Perdue Farms, FedEx, and the Humane Society of Wicomico County.
But there are available facilities for lease still, as well as 85 acres of land available in the new expansion zone.
Mayor Jake Day tells us this expansion will create more private employment and help private businesses that need the airport. Mayor Day states that job growth is critical and this is adding jobs.
He says they need to find new ways to support businesses and continue that growth and this is one exciting way to support that growth.
Mayor Day says this is one of the biggest things that is happening at the airport among three other changes as well such as the expansion of Piedmont Airlines' footprint, the extension of city water to the airport, and the extension of the the runway.
Mayor Day says recognizing that Salisbury's commercial airport, the only one on Delmarva's peninsula, is crucial in connecting Maryland's second busiest airport to America's second fastest growing job market. He states this is making it a big win for the entire region.
