Dental volunteers needed for mobile dental clinic in Delaware

In Delaware, a mobile dental clinic is providing dental care to numerous elementary schools for children who do not have the opportunity to see a dentist.
We are told that many children still lack access to regular dental care due to either financial issues or just because they happen to not see a dentist regularly.
This bus is now helping these children all for free.
The Mobile Dental Clinic partners with the Division of Public Health and drives across Delaware through the Seal-A-Smile program.
We are told a lot of children who utilize this program, tend to have a lot of cavities and roughly about half of the kids actually have an untreated cavity.
In order to prevent future cavities, the program installs a sealant.
A sealant is a plastic coating that is applied to the biting surfaces of the teeth and it can prevent about 80% of cavities.
One of the the volunteer dentists on the mobile clinic says the sealant takes about 10 minutes and it's painless. They also tend to aim for a certain age group as well. They say the younger the better, usually around 2nd grade and 3rd grade so they can get the sealant protection on their adult molars as they're starting to come in and prevent cavities from forming on those teeth.
Now in order to keep this program running, the clinic is asking for dentists who can volunteer.
They say it only takes up about two to three hours a week. If there are any dentists interested in becoming a volunteer for the program, please call 302-744-4554 and for participation forms or additional information about the program, head here.
