Delaware’s Code Purple is seeking volunteers

Cold temperatures are a cause for some extra precaution when it comes to those who don't have a place to stay.

In Delaware, the Code Purple program offers emergency shelters for the homeless during cold winter nights.

Inside these shelters, they offer warm beds, blankets, clothes, and food.

These shelters allow guests to come every night. The shelters are accepting donations and they say they are in need of coffee, sugar, bowls, cups, and pillows.

And besides donations, we are told that they are looking for more volunteers.

There is one position in particular that they need the most and that is the overnight shift, that tends to be from midnight to 7 a.m.

This position is to make sure that everyone's safe.

These overnight volunteers may need some basic training, unless you are a nurse or firefighter, who deals with these types of protocols.

For more information on how to sign up e-mail there at sussexcountycodepurple@gmail.com or call the hotline (302) 519-0024.
