Chasanov’s late steal ices Polytech’s big win over Sussex Central

The Polytech boys basketball team picked up a nice conference win Thursday night when they defeated Sussex Central 67-63. The win improves the Panthers to 3-2, while the loss drops the Golden Knights to
The Golden Knights would be able to grad the early lead thanks to the hot shooting from Jahlier Pettyjohn. He would connect on several outside shots on his way to finishing with a game high 22. While the momentum was in favor of the Golden Knights headed to the 4th, Polytech would finally get going. Their press would force several turnovers as Miguel Rivera would get going. He hit shots in transition, while also being able to get to the bucket in the half court. Joey Haass then checked into the game, and took over. The senior connected on a put back underneath before hitting back to back threes to give his team the lead. Polytech would hold a 4 point lead with under 10 seconds left before Ethan Lambert would drill a three pointer from the right side to make it a 1 point game. The Golden Knights would have the ball with 7 seconds left down 1, before Chasanov came up with the biggest play of the game. He would come up with a steal 90 feet from the hoop, attack the basket and finish with contact for an and one to put the game away.
Polytech returns to action on Saturday when they take on Howard, while Sussex Central faces Appoquinimink on Saturday.
