Braxton Young’s Big Game Lifts Hodgson Over Polytech

The Polytech girls basketball team took a tough home loss Tuesday afternoon when they fell to Hodgson by a score of 54 to 36. The loss drops the Panthers to 0-5.

In the beginning of this one it was neck and neck for a while. Polytech and Hodgson were both playing excellent basketball and the intensity was very high. Courtney Turner for Polytech came out hot with a big three in the first quarter. For Hodgson, Kayla Braxton-Young came out hot with eight points of her own in just the first quarter. The game was neck and neck at the end of the first quarter as Hodgson was up just one point. In the second quarter, Hodgson started to get their offense rolling as they had multiple scorers which led to a big offensive quarter for them. Tamia Mathias wasn't going down without a fight as she was commanding the offense and doing everything she could for Polytech and finished with 14 points. Kayla Braxton-Young for the Silver Eagles had the hot hand all night and ended up helping her team pull away and get the victory.

The Silver Eagles will return to action against St. Elizabeth on December 28th, as the Panthers will return to action against Delcastle High School on December 22nd.
